2104 - Growing Empires Teaser: The Client Who Accidentally Built My Property Management Business
In this teaser from episode three of Growing Empires, I share one of the earliest inflection points in my career—one that started with a simple client call and quietly evolved into the foundation of my property management business.
It begins with a prospective buyer who was clear, direct, and frustrated after speaking with multiple agents who didn’t follow through. I committed to doing something simple: respond quickly and deliver exactly what he needed. That decision, and the discipline to follow through without hesitation, became the turning point in earning his trust.
After closing on the property, he asked me a question I wasn’t prepared for: could I manage it for him. At the time, I didn’t even fully understand what property management meant. That moment forced me to learn quickly, step into something I hadn’t planned, and build capability in real time—with the support of my broker and a willingness to figure it out as I went.
That client didn’t just become a long-term investor. He became a referral engine that ultimately helped me grow a 250-unit management portfolio while still operating inside a traditional brokerage structure.
